Corporate Team Building Paint & Sip at The Wattle Hotel

Team building events don't have to involve trust falls or awkward icebreakers.

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a corporate paint experience for a local diving company at The Wattle Hotel in Upper Coomera, bringing together 25 team members for an afternoon of creativity, laughs, and a little friendly competition.

With custom pre-sketched ocean animal canvases created especially for the event, the afternoon was a perfect reflection of the company's passion for the ocean.

The Venue: The Wattle Hotel

The Wattle Hotel provided the perfect private function space for the afternoon.

The venue gave the team plenty of room to spread out, relax, and enjoy some time together away from the workplace while food and drinks were available throughout the event.

It was a fantastic setting for a corporate function, creating a relaxed atmosphere where everyone could switch off from work and simply enjoy the experience.

Custom Ocean Animal Paintings

Instead of choosing one artwork for the whole group, this team wanted something a little more personalised.

Before the event, we created custom pre-sketched canvases featuring three different ocean animals that reflected their love of diving and marine life.

Guests were able to choose between:

• Sea Turtle
• Manta Ray
• Tiger Shark

It was a great way to give everyone some choice while still keeping the event connected by a common ocean theme.

By far the most popular choice on the day was the Sea Turtle, with the Manta Ray coming in second and the Tiger Shark proving to be the bold option for a few adventurous team members.

Every Painting Was Unique

Although everyone began with the same outline of their chosen ocean animal, every painting quickly developed its own personality.

Some guests stayed true to realistic ocean colours, while others experimented with vibrant backgrounds, colourful patterns, and creative details that made their artwork completely their own.

One of my favourite parts of the afternoon was walking around the room and seeing how differently everyone interpreted the same sketch.

No two paintings looked alike by the end of the session.

A Friendly Competition

To make the afternoon even more fun, the event organiser brought along a selection of prizes for the best paintings.

She then gave us what turned out to be one of the hardest jobs of the day choosing our favourite artwork.

With 25 fantastic paintings displayed around the room, narrowing it down was incredibly difficult.

Everyone had put so much effort into their artwork, and each painting had its own unique style and personality.

After plenty of discussion, we eventually managed to choose our winners, but it certainly wasn't an easy decision.

Team Building Through Creativity

One of the things I love most about corporate paint events is watching colleagues interact in a completely different environment.

People who may not normally work together end up chatting, encouraging one another, sharing painting tips, and celebrating each other's progress.

The relaxed atmosphere allows everyone to unwind, have a laugh, and simply enjoy spending time together outside of the office.

It's a refreshing change from traditional team building activities and something that everyone, regardless of experience, can participate in.

Twenty-Five Amazing Ocean Creatures

As the afternoon came to an end, the room was filled with colourful sea turtles, graceful manta rays, and striking tiger sharks.

Seeing all 25 finished paintings lined up together was such a rewarding moment.

Although the artwork started with custom sketches, every guest added their own creative flair, making each ocean animal completely unique.

It perfectly reflected both the individuality of the team members and their shared passion for the ocean.

A Fantastic Afternoon at The Wattle Hotel

This corporate event was a wonderful reminder that creativity brings people together.

Between the custom ocean animal paintings, plenty of conversation, and the friendly painting competition, the afternoon created lasting memories for everyone involved.
